I have created this page to document all of my favorite spots for food. It will range from wide known places to hidden gems! The following list is in no particular order. I know that many people want to try new places in Baton Rouge, but don't know where to start. So let's start here!
The Bull Dog is a cute little bar on Perkins close to College Drive. They have a cozy courtyard for you to eat at which you can see in my picture. Happy Hour is from 4-7 P.M. where you can get multiple deals on a budget. They also have easy to munch on food that won't break the bank. Mind you it is bar food, but that is good food in my book. One of my favorite things about them is that they are dog friendly as you can tell by my picture with Dusk. Overall, I truly enjoyed the atmosphere and the customer service was awesome. Definitely a good spot for patio weather!
Local Fave # 2: Mansurs On The Boulevard
Local Faves # 3: One Thirteen Terrace & Bar
Chimes is one of my favorite places to go with friends especially during football season. I love their fun atmosphere, the fact they are so close to LSU, and their food is so delish! Their Spinanch and Artichoke Dip is the most unique twist I’ve had on this dish and it’s so good! A must try!
This cute spot is located in Hammond, Louisiana so about a 25 minute drive from Baton Rouge, I tried this location to celebrate my birthday with one of my friends who also shared the same birthday month. I had no expectations going in because I never really heard of the place before besides driving past it in college. All I can say is to look at the pictures below to see my meal. Everything was delicious. We split an appetizer, each had our own meal, and then they gave us a free bread pudding for our celebration which you see pictured above. I loved the atmosphere and overall vibe of the restaurant and can't wait to go back. The price range was in the middle. It wasn't too expensive, but not quite as cheap as a quick sit and go diner. Totally worth it though if you ask me.
Everyone needs a pick me up during quarantine and this food truck definitely was it. The gelato was so amazing. I tried the birthday cake and really liked it, but ended up switching with a friend for her watermelon as we both liked the other's flavor better. The man behind it all was so friendly and welcoming. Their menu has so much to offer and its awesome that it is on wheels so it can come to your neighborhood next. If you look on their social media, they let you know their schedule and when they plan to go where. Overall, I was really pleased with my experience and love supporting local especially during this time.
Porch Light Grill is located in Prairieville, Louisiana and it is very easy to get to from Baton Rouge. I actually ate at this location when it was named something else, but was interested to try the new restaurant after hearing amazing reviews. We were greeted as soon as we entered and were told we could sit where we wanted. They are open at limited capacity (25 %) and they were all practicing sanitary and safe practices.
I ordered a sweet tea and the spinach and artichoke dip for an appetizer. The tea was just right. Not too sweet, but sweet enough. The appetizer came out very fast and was just perfect. I am picky when it comes to both my sweet tea and spinach dip and they did amazing. A plus in my book right off the start.
I then ordered a seafood salad for my entree and a to-go bread pudding. Everything was delicious and I was stuffed in no time. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. He never had to be reminded to refill our drinks or put in the to-go order.
Overall, I was very pleased and will definitely be back!
I have always wanted to go to Texas De Brazil, so I was excited when were able to go for Father's Day. I never have been but I just had a preconceived notion that it was an expensive restaurant so I never stepped foot inside because I figured I couldn't afford it.
However, it is so worth it y'all! It is $50 a person, but you eat until your heart is content. It is really not expensive when you think about it.
How it works:
You go in and sit down of course. Then you get a card with salads and starters (I put a picture in the comments) This is a special addition due to Covid since we were not allowed to get up and go to the salad bar physical. We filled out a little card and they prepared our salads and brought out some starters for us. Then they gave us a card with green on one side and red on the other. You flip it to green to show the men walking around with different types of meats that you are open and ready to go. It doesn't mean you have to try it all but it lets them know to go up to your table and offer it.
We found out that desserts and drinks were not included and were extra, but it is okay because it was worth it. Pictured above is the two desserts, yes two desserts for me, that I ordered because I couldn't decide. I got the Key-lime Pie and the Brazilian Cheesecake. SO GOOD!
Overall, this is the PERFECT place for a special occasion or date night where you are ready to EAT and be given the upmost amazing customer service.
Tip: Just know you can't get a to-go box for food besides dessert. To order to-go, you must pay the fee again.
Y'all! I am not even kidding you when I tell you how adorable this patio set up and restaurant altogether is. I was invited here for a get together and realized that it was so close to my house, but I never heard of it before. It definitely is a hidden gem in Baton Rouge, LA.
There is a drive through as well as a walk up window for the porch. There are tables with umbrellas for shade on the patio. It was the perfect space for this event and we will definitely be utilizing this area more often. The twinkling string lights gave it the cutest little touch. It would be perfect for a sunset date night.
The burgers and fries were amazing!! I am not kidding you. It was not just an ordinary burger, but had so much taste and a yummy sauce! The fries were very similar to Chic Fil A as they were waffle fries!
Overall I am so impressed by this little (it really isn't very big) burger joint. The customer service was amazing and I just had a great experience while I was there. I will be back!
Get your Pizza by the slice while you enjoy a fun atmosphere and environment. Everything was delicious and the staff consistently checked on us and made sure we were well taken care of. The best part is that if you walk in with a Bama Jersey, they blast the LSU fight song!
I tried Lighthouse Coffee the other day and it was so good! I definitely can see what all the hype is about. It is such a unique and bright yet calming atmosphere which is perfect for studying or coffee chats with your favorite girl friend. I got an iced White Mocha and my friend got a vanilla latte. I also got the tomato soup and herb toast!
These burgers and the atmosphere kicks all other restaraunts to the Curb{side} I loved the burger at Curbside Burgers and I am not a burger gal at all. It was by far the best burger joint I’ve been to & it’s located locally on Government! Go check it out!
The Vintage is a new hole in the wall favorite. It is on the corner of Laurel and third downtown Baton Rouge. They serve coffee as well as breakfast and lunch. I got an iced coffee the first time I went and the last time I got a vanilla latte! Highly recommend! I decided to go there for a photo shoot for the boutique because it was such a fun and unique atmosphere!
